After the long stall with my progress (I’m expecting these and more to come), I’ve done the landscape about as far as I want to go in terms of quality for the landscape. The main change is the texturing and the 3D effects. There are now texture fades used, lighting, and 3 “channels”. AlphaBlend prevents further detail as it’s too slow (DirectX is my intent, but haven’t had the motive to learn it). To get the appearance I want, I’ll need about 25000 draws or so in each frame (and this is for tiny 1×4 images, once I get the vertex-based system up and going). I show various other things as well.
